Forcing people out of what was fun in the original is just a bad decision. Hopefully random weapons are a setting that can be customized. Mimicking parallax scrolling and fog effects would've been enough. Here they spent a lot of time adding on each layer of the typical post-processing you find in this age without a thought given to whether it's a good idea or not. There was a little mess in Nidhogg 1's level design as part of the difficulty as I recall, but that seemed intentional. Level design is on point, but like in the video, it's visually cluttered. Melting off all facial features and detail on the characters would actually be preferable, I'm sad to say.
